Stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. In Bangladesh, stroke is a leading cause of disability and death. Remember FAST to recognize stroke: - Face: Does one side of the face droop? - Arms: Can the person raise both arms? - Speech: Is speech slurred or strange? - Time: Call for emergency help immediately! Stroke prevention: 1. Control high blood pressure โ€” the number one risk factor. 2. Manage diabetes and cholesterol. 3. Quit smoking. 4. Exercise regularly. 5. Eat a healthy diet low in salt and saturated fat. 6. Limit alcohol. 7. Treat atrial fibrillation if diagnosed. Every minute counts during a stroke. Getting treatment within the first few hours can significantly reduce brain damage and improve outcomes.
