Dengue fever is a major public health concern in Bangladesh, especially during the monsoon season. The Aedes mosquito that carries dengue breeds in stagnant water.
Prevention measures:
1. Eliminate standing water around your home — flower pots, old tires, containers.
2. Use mosquito nets and repellents.
3. Wear long-sleeved clothing during dawn and dusk.
4. Keep windows and doors screened.
5. Use mosquito coils or electric repellent devices.
Dengue symptoms to watch for:
- High fever (104°F/40°C)
- Severe headache and pain behind the eyes
- Joint and muscle pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Skin rash
Seek immediate medical attention if you notice warning signs like severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding gums, or extreme fatigue. Early detection and proper hydration are key to recovery.
