Dental Health: Beyond Brushing
GeneralHealthBangladesh
Good dental health is about more than just brushing your teeth. Oral health is connected to overall health, with poor dental hygiene linked to heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections.
Complete dental care routine:
1. Brush twice daily for 2 minutes with fluoride toothpaste.
2. Floss daily to remove plaque between teeth.
3. Use mouthwash for additional protection.
4. Replace your toothbrush every 3 months.
5. Limit sugary foods and acidic drinks.
6. Visit a dentist every 6 months.
Common dental problems in Bangladesh:
- Cavities and tooth decay
- Gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis)
- Tooth sensitivity
- Oral cancer (linked to betel nut and tobacco use)
Teach children proper brushing technique from an early age. Many dental problems are preventable with consistent care.
